The Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (CILIP) Cymru/Wales came into being on 1 April 2002, and is a Branch of the UK Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals. CILIP was formed following the unification of the Library Association and the Institute of Information Scientists and replaces the Welsh Library Association in Wales.

- CyMAL: Museums Archives and Libraries Wales
CyMAL supports the development of local museums, archives and libraries services; provides the Minister for Culture, Welsh Language and Sport with authoritative policy advice; gives advice and financial support to local museums, archives and libraries and develops and implements policies appropriate to Wales.
The Gateways to Learning partners include five public library services (Blaenau Gwent, Caerphilly, Monmouthshire, Newport and Torfaen), two further education colleges (Coleg Gwent and Ystrad Mynach College) and one higher education institution (University of Wales, Newport) - a network of 56 branch or campus libraries and learning resource centres throughout South East Wales. The aim of the project is to widen participation in lifelong learning and make it more accessible, particularly to people in disadvantaged communities or circumstances.
Gathering the Jewels (Culturenet Cymru) is a web-based resource discovery tool giving access to digitised material from a number of libraries, archives and museums in Wales.

The Higher Education Funding Council for Wales (HEFCW) was established to promote internationally excellent higher education in Wales, for the benefit of individuals, society and the economy.

Higher Education Wales (HEW) was established in 1996 to represent the higher education sector in Wales. HEW is the national council in Wales of Universities UK, and its membership encompasses all the heads of the universities and higher education institutions in Wales.

The Higher Education Wales Information Technology forum (HEWIT) is a grouping of Directors of Information Services and Heads of IT & Computing drawn from all higher education institutions in Wales.
- LINC y Gogledd
LINC y Gogledd is a cross-domain reciprocal borrowing scheme between the University of Wales, Bangor, the public library services of three local authorities, Conwy, Gwynedd and the Isle of Anglesey and three Further Education colleges, Coleg Menai, Coleg Meirion Dwyfor and Coleg Llandrillo.

The Society of College, National and University Libraries works to improve the quality and extend the influence of the university and national libraries of the UK and Ireland.
- SCONUL Access
SCONUL Access is a co-operative venture between most of the higher education libraries of the UK and Ireland. It enables staff, research students, full time postgraduates and part-time, distance learning and placement students to borrow material from other libraries.
